This message may be seen when SunEase v5 is started. SunEase version 5.0+ will try to update this setting if you select the Change option. However, the Change option does not always work. Use the steps below to add it yourself..

If this line is not added you may get additional messages when making a sale or deleting a transaction:

If you see these messages, choose Default to continue. You may see additional messages, select Default if available.

DOS or Windows' MS-DOS Prompt

• Type: CD\ then press Enter.
• Type: EDIT CONFIG.SYS then press Enter.
• Look for the line FILES= if you do not see it;
  • Use the arrow keys to move to a blank line
  • Type: FILES=45
• If you do see FILES=
  • Make sure the number is at least 45
    This line can be more than 45 but not less than 45
• Press Alt to activate the menu bar
• Press F to select the file menu
• Press X to select the Exit option
• Press Y to save the changes
• Restart the Computer!

Windows 3.1

Quit Windows then follow the instructions for MS-DOS

• Select Start then Run...
• For file to open type: SYSEDIT then select OK
• Click on the window titled C:\CONFIG.SYS
• Look for the line FILES= if you do not see it
  • Use the arrow keys to move to a blank line
  • Type: FILES=99
• If you do see FILES=
  • Make sure the number is at least 45
    This line can be more than 45 but not less than 45
• Select File then Save
• Select File then Exit
• Restart the Computer!

Windows NT

• Select Start then Programs then MS-DOS Prompt
• Type: CD\ then press Enter.
• Type: EDIT C:\WinNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG.NT then press Enter
• Follow the remaining for MS-DOS

Windows ME

• Select Start then Run
• For file to open type: MSCONFIG then select OK
• Select the SYSTEM.INI tab page
• Click the + (plus) sign next to [386EnH]
• If see the line PerVMFiles=
  • Make sure the number is at least 45
    This line can be more than 45 but not less than 45
• If you do not see PerVMFiles= select New
  • Type: PerVMFiles=45
• Select the Apply Button
• Restart the Computer!
