How to setup a tmax manager or intelitan timer

These steps require SunEase 2k v1.14 or later
and Tanning Bed Monitor/TM

Back to index

SunEase 2k can support up to 64 tanning beds.  When a tanning session is used the time to tan can be automatically sent to a remote timer.

The version of the Tanning Bed Monitor that supports tmax managers is currently available for free on our web site or as an option on the SunEase 2k CD-ROM.  This program keeps track of who's tanning, how much time is remaining and which beds need cleaning.  The Tanning Bed Monitor must be running and is started automatically when SunEase 2k is started.

1)  Connect the cable from the manager to the computer

The cable required is a standard serial cable available at most computer stores.

2)  Determine which serial port the manager is using

Install and run the Adnet 2000 program which is available from Applied Digital. This program is used to determine the serial port the tmax manager is connected to and to verify the timer, serial cable and computer are working correctly.

  • Note the Serial Port the manager is using
  • Close the Adnet 2000 program

Once you determine everything is talking correctly this program is no longer used.

3)  Setup the Tanning Bed Monitor
  • Select the Tanning Bed Monitor
  • Select the Options button
  • Change the Refresh Rate to 30 seconds or more
  • Save the changes
4)  Tell SunEase a timer is connected
  • Pause the Tanning Bed Monitor
  • Close any open windows in SunEase 2k
  • Select File then Preferences
  • Select the Client/Tanning tab
    • Check Activate Remote Timer Features
    • It will also display (tmax support)
      If it does not, close SunEase and the Tanning Bed Monitor;
      Run setup on the SunEase 2k CD-ROM;
      select just tmax support, select Yes if asked to overwrite any files;
      If you do not have the SunEase 2k CD-ROM, download the tmax support files from our web site.
  • Close the Preferences window
  • Select Utilities then Purge Data Files then Timer Commands
  • Select the Start button
  • Select the Close button when it finishes

5)  Setup each tanning bed to use the timer
  • Pause the Tanning Bed Monitor
  • Close any open windows in SunEase 2k
  • Select File then Tanning Beds
  • Highlight the first bed in the list
  • Select View then Form
  • Select the General tab
    • Update the Undress, Maximum and Normal times as needed
  • Select the Timer Setup tab
    • Update the Station Number (the position on the timer this bed will control)
    • Update the Serial Port (see step 2), this number must be the same for each bed connected to the timer
    • For Connected to an FST 1000?, remove any check marks.
    • The Program Timer feature is only available with FST Timers.
  • Move to the next tanning bed and repeat these steps.

    Note:  SunEase sets up 8 beds when it is first installed. Use the Insert icon on the tool bar to setup additional beds.  Use the Delete icon to make any beds you do not need inactive.

    Note: SunEase uses the serial port and undress time setup under bed #1 for all beds when talking to the tmax.

6)  Tan your clients normally
  • Make sure the Tanning Bed Monitor is running and it is not Paused
  • Open the Tanning and Sales window in SunEase 2k
  • Locate a client
  • Select the Tan button

    The command to set time will be sent to the Tanning Bed Monitor which will send the command to the tmax manager.
